Discovering the Ramayana

Photo

Our most recent production, Discovering the Ramayana was a hugely successful show touring to Arts Centres, schools and community halls in the West Midlands. A key feature of this production was the involvement of up to 30 young people at each performance. The young people spent a day working with the Fetch's director, Purvin, and performer, Nisha Anil, to rehearse key scenes within the play and learn mask and puppetry skills. The young people then watched the show with the audience and performed their scenes which interwove throughout the story. This format was worked really well and the positive responses from audiences, participants and promoters have led us to plan a retour!
If you are interested in finding out more about the project and proposed new tour (timed to coincide with Divali) please contact Cindy Watson on 01544 231 579 or

N.B. Discovering the Ramayana is the first in a cycle of work we hope to develop working with our colleagues in India to explore the Ramayana.

The Maze of Minos

Photo

The Maze of Minos was a small-scale production based on the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur. Working with only two performers, Minos was an entertaining and energetic show, that also had a hard edge exploring themes relating to war, sacrifice, loss and heroism, prejudice and segregation.
The show toured to village halls, arts centres and schools in the West Midlands and had an accompanying education programme.

The Masque of the Red Death

Photo

A flagship for The Fetch Theatre, The Masque of the Red Death has now toured twice engaging with thousands of young people in the Border Marches Counties. Based on the writings of Edgar Allan Poe the show tackles issues of substance use and misuse in a highly theatrical, thought-provoking and memorable way.
Each performance is followed by an audience discussion led by the Fetch's artistic Director, Purvin and a local Drugs Worker. There is also an accompanying education pack and DVD.

The Fetch are constantly looking for funding to enable this ground-breaking production to retour in the future.

A Right to Passage

Photo

A Right to Passage was created in response to negative attitudes and press reports directed towards Gypsy Rom and Traveller families. We wanted to create a touring show that acknowledged these prejudices but above all reflected the depth and richness of Romany history and culture. A Right to Passage was designed to tour with an accompanying workshop and education pack and supported the company's aim, to celebrate and understand cultural differences.

Land of the Five Rivers

Photo

The Land of the Five Rivers was The Fetch Theatre's first touring production and our first international collaboration! The production toured first in rural Portugal and then nationally throughout the UK. For the UK tour we went to India and auditioned to find two performers who joined us for the tour.
The bi-lingual production was performed in village halls, arts centres, schools and other community venues. The show was met with an overwhelmingly positive response and was a great platform to launch The Fetch Theatre. It was also, the first in our ongoing programme of Anglo-Indian collaborative work.
